Organisational Development

September 16, 2011 - On September 8th and 9th Jenny Pearson joined us for a joint learning session and conducted an inspiration session linked to the Thematic Learning Programme Organizational Assessment. Jenny joined us representing a Southern ‘voice of practice’.

August 24, 2011 - The first six months of 2011 were very exciting  for PSO-member Connect International and its Tanzanian partner SHIPO (Southern Highlands Participatory Organisation). For a minute their future seemed unsure. But, the so-called ‘Learning-working trajectory’ agreement of PSO with Connect International contributed to renewed access to funding for both Connect International and SHIPO.

global citizenshipJune 14, 2011 - Although charity comes from a good heart and is sometimes necessary, it does not build global solidarity nor citizenship. On the contrary, it often rather increases feelings of ‘we’ versus ‘them’ according to sociology professor Kate Nash.

June 10, 2011- In 2009 two natural disasters hit parts of South Asia (Indonesia and the Philppines). Tear Netherlands took the lead in the relief response. In 2011 Tear published a booklet about their experiences and 'lessons learned': 9XChallenge.

Report of a 24-hour learning session

Soesterberg, September 22nd 2010, the church bells sound four times, people are gathering in the chapel of Kontakt der Kontinenten, maybe expecting to hear a sermon of ‘reverend Rick’.

Learning as an individual happens almost as a matter of course. You make a mistake or a project goes particularly well and you remember that for future reference. But how does an organisation learn?

In this document we describe Senge's five disciplines for organisational learning and Bruce Britton's eight key functions. We explain what each means for improving organisational learning in an organisation. The two distinct perspectives are linked to one another and we try to offer more than just a means of an organisation's learning capacity.

In December 2008 Tear, in close cooperation with PSO, brought a number of her partner organisations to the Netherland to jointly learn on the management of organisational change processes. The process resulted in this publication, which provides an interesting overview of the challenges, successes and lessons learned, as well as useful tips on the management of change processes.

'It was a day well spent'

PSO and her South African partner, the Community Development Resource Association (CDRA) organized the workshop 'Supporting the development of sovereign local organisations and social movements', which took place on the 4th of June 2009 at the Concordia Theatre in The Hague. The participants found it an inspiring meeting.
