PSO presents the final report of the use of the 5C framework in the MFSII baseline surveys. This report presents the main findings of interviews conducted with alliances of Dutch NGOs that are funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under its current co-financing program MFS II.

PSO published a joint publication with VSO on our Action Learning Programme in West-Africa. In this INTRAC Praxis Note 4 development and learning facilitators from PSO and VSO who accompanied this journey share 3 stories about people from Ghana, the Gambia and Cameroon who used Action Learning to bring about change in their own selves and communities.
Civil Society at Crossroads is a joint initiative between CDRA (South Africa), EASUN (Tanzania), INTRAC (UK), PSO (The Netherlands), ICD (Uruguay) and PRIA (India).
In November 2011 PSO started an intensive, themed learning programme in South Sudan. It is unique because it was set up in the country itself by the organisations that operate there. But why have a learning programme in South Sudan?
In the latest INTRAC Praxis Paper 'Dealing with complexity through Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation' PSO and HIVA share the first results of the thematic learning programme 'Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation of complex changes'. In this programma 10 Dutch and Belgium NGOs participate in an action research on various PME methods and approaches. They explore to which extend the PME approach helps to deal with complex processes of social change. In the INTRAC Praxis Paper the meaning of a balanced PME approach is given based on illustrations from the 10 case reports.
On Valentines Day, February 14th , 2012, 66 participants from 54 different organisations gathered in Utrecht to discuss and learn on the 5C framework. The various MFS alliances have to use the 5C framework to monitor capacity development of their partners organisations and their experiences vary considerably. The organisations were very curious to see how others applied the 5C model and were keen to learn ways to improve the use.
From 29 November till 1 December 300 representatives of Civil society organisations of the world, participated in het Busan High level Forum on Aid Effectiveness. PSO director Margo Kooijman did represent Dutch NGO's in Busan.
November 1th 2011 - On 27 October 2011, PSO’s General Assembly of Members decided to liquidate the Association as of 1 January 2013 (or later if required for the liquidation). This was not an easy decision, according to Ludy Geut, Chairman of the Board.
‘It is the season of accountability…but over the past few years, almost every organisation or project I have visited is stressed with issues of monitoring and evaluation, anxiously shopping around for methodologies to measure and report on impact to satisfy donors. Adverts for M&E specialists abound as donors seek to further outsource this function to experts, robbing organisations of rich learning processes to which M&E should contribute.’ Reeler, 2007.
October 13, 2011 – Marnix van Rij has left the Board of Governors of PSO after four years as chairman. Ludy Geut, who has been vice chairman since 2007, has been chosen as Marnix van Rij’s successor at the Annual General Meeting on Oktober 13th 2011.
