Over the past few years, there has been a marked increase in the interest in capacity development in fragile states or regions. Civil society has an important role to play there where government capacity is low. PSO has a learning path with member organisations and other Dutch NGOs aimed at improving the quality of support to partner organisations. The learning path consists of two tracks.
In 2008, the first track consists of three workshops:
1. Capacity development in Fragile Environments, issues, dilemma's and directions (4 April 2008)
2. How to strengthen civil society in fragile states (19 September 2008)
3. Peace Building (December 2008)
The second track offers an opportunity for organisations to examine in greater depth the issues of their day to day problems. In the second half of 2009 we will begin an action research trajectory. PSO member organisations who wish to further develop instruments for capacity development in fragile states will be invited to take part.
