December 15, 2010 - As a cherished birthday present, that was how PSO experienced the visit of its Southern colleagues from EASUN, PRIA and CDRA. They came with warmth (which we needed with the freezing outside temperatures), authenticity, inspiration and humor. They brightened up our party as friends, co-travelers and co-creators.
The Dutch development aid system is under pressure, both from within as well as from outside the sector, from the North and the South. Not only is the system in general being questioned, but also the role and added value of Dutch NGOs.
PSO and EASUN organised 'The Moshi Dialogue': a meeting between European and mainly East African NGO's to talk about their relationship. Read all about their preparations, experiences and results in 'The Moshi Dialogue'.
PSO and its partner EASUN in Tanzania will facilitate a dialogue between Northern and Southern NGO's later this year. Read more about our preparations and activities so far.

EASUN (Tanzania) en PSO (Nederland) will facilitate a meeting of Northern and Southern NGO's in which we will try to build real understanding for one another. How we build this understanding will be the central theme of the meeting.
Engaging in a partnership on the basis of your own strength. Allowing yourself to lead, but also to be led by your partner. Connecting to the values that lie behind the visible actions. Relating with a mildness and firmness that makes the other party feel safe enough to experiment, safe enough to develop.
In 2007 and 2008 PSO experimented with a peer review approach focusing on improvement and learning about partnership in humanitarian aid, in response to conflicts and natural disasters. A peer review approach builds upon a learning instead of accountability atmosphere. This report examines how such an atmosphere was created and what we would do differently a next time.
As of June 2008 a number of PSO member organisations have found one another in a joint need to exchange ideas on Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation in international relationships.
