Jury report

The jury comments on the three nominated projects.

Chairman of the jury Lucie Blok: 'Selecting a winner has again been very challenging for the jury. The fact that Alan gave input on resilience, which we had to integrate in our way of ‘judging’/scoring has not made it easier…..As a jury we looked at resilience in a broader definition. In terms of adaptation and performance at the level of the partner organizations, we observe that all three presentations addressed relevant and pertinent problems. All three are very strong in approaches:

WPF: Clear in identifying what needed to be changed. The presentation showed the innovation in terms of changing the intervention strategy, as well as the implications for the capacity of partner organizations. There was also a focus on learning for the wider community on this topic. Read the jury's report, a summary of the WPF project and watch the video.

STRO: Very courageous. Methods and theories from a completely different field integrated into community development interventions. Very strong participatory approach identified the need to work on resilience of communities

TEAR: Pertinent in need toward changes in climate and environment. Also clear focus on resilience of local communities. Good learning potential and replication.'

The criteria used by the jury:

-          innovation in approaches to capacity development

-          how does that affect resilience of organizations

-          ownership of the partner organizations; appropriateness of the proposal in the context of the partners

-          added value of the innovation for the sector, attention for learning and dissemination of the lessons learned.
